Pat Lyons chairs our Vocational Service Committee. Vocational Service involves club members serving others through their professions. Rotarians, as business leaders, are encouraged to share their skills and expertise and set examples of high ethical standards - to inspire others in the process. The Vocational Committee works closely with Portsmouth High School's Business Education Collaborative, as well as the Portsmouth High School Business Class. We are always looking for business leaders who can help us out by presenting to students!
The Seacoast Rotary Club is pleased to announce that the Portsmouth High School Vocational Scholarship is available for 2014. This scholarship - in the amount of $5,000 spread over two years - is intended to assist in the overall cost of a Vocational School. After a recipient has been selected, he/she and their family will be invited to attend a Seacoast Rotary Club breakfast meeting to accept the award and receive $2,500 for their first year of study.
In order to receive the remaining $2,500 scholarship in the second year, the student must maintain (and provide proof of) a C average. We also ask that the student attend a Rotary breakfast meeting after their first year to update the club on his/her progress.
Community members on town or school boards are welcome (and encouraged) to attend breakfast with us throughout the year. We are proud to be a part of the Portsmouth High School Vocational Scholarship program. If you or someone you know is interested in applying for a vocational scholarship, please contact the school's guidance office.
